Description
Amyl Bacteriological Starch, RM 326, has a variety of uses in bacteriological culture media:
- as a source of energy and for the differentiation of bacterial genera and species according to their ability to ferment or not ferment starch.
- as a substrate in solid (agar) media to detect starch hydrolysis by amylase producing organisms
- as a protective colloid against toxic products contained in a substrate or produced as by products during microbial metabolism.
