BAIRD PARKER AGAR BASE

A selective medium for the isolation and enumeration of coagulase positive staphylococci from skin and clinical samples, foods and environmental sources.

Description

The completed opaque medium, developed by Baird Parker (1962)1 for the isolation and enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci from foods, is essentially a modified formula of the Tellurite-glycine medium previously described by Zebouitz et al (1955)2 with the addition of sodium pyruvate and egg yolk emulsion.
