Description
Amyl Media Bile Salts is a standardised mixture of bile salts prepared from fresh ox bile. The predominant active constituents of Bile Salts are the salts of taurocholic and glycolic acids, salts of desoxycholic acid being present to a lesser degree. Incorporated into microbiological media at a concentration of 0.5%, Amyl Media Bile Salts will provide selectivity for bile tolerant micro-organisms including bile tolerant pathogenic staphylococci. Amyl Media Bile Salts is standardised according to the method of Burman1, then tested for suitability into various media, eg MacConkey, Salmonella–Shigella, prior to release.
