Description
Amyl Differential Reinforced Clostridial Broth (DRCM) AM 715 is a modification of the Reinforced Clostridial Medium (RCM) formulated by Hirsch and Grinstead in 19541. However, unlike RCM, and because DRCM contains Fe++ and SO3++ ions, growth of sulphite reducing organisms is apparent due to the formation of black iron sulphide in the medium, thereby rendering it useful as a medium for the enumeration of Clostridia in food and other products using the MPN (most probable number ) procedure.2,3
The presence of the Redox indicator Resazurin, serves as an indicator of anaerobiosis prior to the use of the medium.
