FLUOROGEN S1 (4-Methylumbelliferyl-β-D-glucuronide or MUG)

A fluorogenic substrate used as an indicator in microbiological culture media for the visual detection of β-glucuronidase activity, particularly by E.coli.

Description

Amyl Fluorogen S1, RM 280, is a fluorogenic substrate for detecting and measuring beta-glucuronidase activity in micro-organisms and in some plant reporter gene systems.

Fluorogen S1, is comprised of the fluorogenic substance, 4-methylumbelliferone linked to β-D-glucuronide dihydrate, fluorescence of the former molecule being suppressed by linkage to the latter.
