A selective supplement used in conjunction with BCYEa base medium for the isolation of Legionella pneumophila and other Legionella species from clinical and environmental specimens.
Reconstitute the vial with 5ml of sterile water, mix thoroughly to dissolve and add to 500ml of molten base medium, Amyl AM 79, previously sterilised and cooled to 50°C. Mix gently and pour into sterile petri dishes or other containers. NOTE: The use of Legionella growth supplement SP 438, containing L-Cysteine, is not necessary when using Selective Supplement SP 428.
