Description
Listeria Selective Enrichment Broth UV is based on a modification of the original formulation described by Donnelly and Baigent, which reduces the concentration of nalidixic acid to 20 mg per litre.
Nalidixic acid inhibits growth of many Gram negative organisms and Acriflavine suppresses Gram positive organisms.
The peptones and yeast extract included in the formula provide carbon and nitrogen compounds, vitamins and trace elements necessary for bacterial metabolism. Broth is buffered by the presence of sodium and potassium phosphate and sodium chloride maintains osmotic equilibrium.
