Description
Amyl Modified Plate Count Agar, AM 145, is a modification of the ISO formulation1 for the enumeration of viable organisms in milk and other dairy products (Amyl Plate Count Milk Agar, AM 167). The medium has been modified by the addition of starch as a carbohydrate source for starch hydrolysing bacteria and, more importantly, as a protective colloid for the absorption of toxic products formed as waste products during the metabolic processes involved in bacterial growth.
