Description
Potato Dextrose Agar is a versatile medium recommended by the American Public Health Association and the Food & Drug Administration for plate counts of yeasts and moulds in food and dairy products.
It promotes sporulation, differentiates some dermatophytes by the production of pigment and is useful for the maintenance of stock cultures.
Pour plates are usually used in food testing but the medium is also suitable for use in plates and slopes which makes it appropriate for a number of applications.
Prepared medium appears pale yellow and slightly opalescent.
