Description
Amyl Rogosa SL Agar, AM 162, is a modification of the original medium formulated by Rogosa, Mitchell and Wiseman1,2.
The selectivity of the original medium for Lactobacilli has been retained and, with the addition of extra carbohydrates in the form of saccharose and arabinose, the medium provides enhanced enrichment for the growth and proliferation of Lactobacillus sp., facilitating their isolation from clinical material and food products containing large numbers of contaminating bacteria, particularly lactic acid bacteria and streptococci. The addition of Tomato juice to a level of 20% v/v will greatly enhance the isolation of Lactobacillus acidophilus.3
