Description
A nutrient medium based on the formulation of Anderson (1939) incorporating Tributyrin (glycerol tributyrate); used to detect the lipolytic activity of organisms such as clostridia, enterococci, pseudomonads, staphylococci, flavobacteria and some moulds. Production of the enzyme lipase splits tributyrin resulting in lipolytic colonies surrounded by a clear zone in an opaque medium.
