Description
Standard Plate Count Agar was developed by Buchbinder, Baris, Alff, et al, as an agar which did not use milk solids in the formulation and which was superior to media which did, giving clearer background and larger colonies1. Amyl Plate Count Agar, AM 144, conforms with this formulation and with the requirements of the Australian Standard for Food Microbiology3, as well as that of the APHA and AOAC4,5,6
