Description

Lauryl Tryptose Broth is a standard method medium prepared to the formula of Mallmann and Darby1, who demonstrated the value of the medium in the detection of coliforms in water, dairy and other foods, using American Public Health Association Procedures2,3. Bromocresol Purple Indicator is an optional additive for the detection of acid production from lactose fermentation.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is incorporated into the medium as a selective but non inhibitory agent for coliforms.

It is recommended for use in the presumptive phase of Standard Total Coliform Multiple Tube – Mean Probable Number test of coliforms in the examination of water.
