Description
Amyl Nutrient Agar Starch , AM 708, is a custom mix medium based on the formulation of Amyl Nutrient Agar, AM 130, to which Bacteriological Starch has been added as a carbohydrate source for starch hydrolyzing bacteria and as a protective colloid for the adsorption of toxic products formed as waste products during the metabolic processes involved in bacterial growth.
Further enrichment, if required for the growth of more fastidious organisms, can be achieved by the addition of sterile whole animal blood, either horse, sheep or rabbit to a level of between 5 and 10 % after autoclaving and cooling of the basal medium to a temperature below 45°C.
