Description
Amyl Clostridium Difficile Agar base, AM 31, is a basal medium that can be used either as a selective anaerobic blood agar plate or, by the addition of Neutral Red prior to autoclaving and egg yolk emulsion after sterilization , as the CCFA medium devised by George et al.1 Addition of D-cycloserine and cefoxitin to levels of 250 μg per ml and 8 μg per ml respectively confer selectivity to the medium which, when used in conjunction with alcohol or heat shock treatment of the specimen, provides optimal conditions for recovery and isolation of Clostridium difficile from clinical material
