Description
Perfringens Agar Base AM147 (TSC and SFP)is used with the addition of the appropriate supplements with or without Egg Yolk Emulsion. The omission of Egg Yolk Emulsion reduces the size of the colonies which can be helpful when large numbers are expected. Higher counts can be expected using the pour plate technique. The formulations are based on the published works of Handford-Shahidi-Ferguson. The Kanamycin Sulphate-Polymixin B and the D-cycloserine are the selective agents. Ferric Ammonium Citrate and Sodium Metabisulphite indicate by producing black colonies by the reduction of sulphite by Clostridium Perfringens.
