Description
MacConkey Agar AM94 is classified as differential by virtue of it’s ability to ferment lactose and has a low selective ability due to the absence of crystal violet and the use of bile salts number 1.
It is suitable for use in all the applications mentioned above including the cultivation of streptococci and staphylococci, in specimens containing mixed flora. It is recommended by WHO and Windle-Taylor for the examination of waters.
Yersinia species, which produces slow growth on MacConkey Agar AM94, may be differentiated from Pasteurella species, which does not grow.
