Amyl Bacteriological Glycerol, RM 283, is a colourless, viscous liquid used in the preparation of a wide variety of culture media and other reagents.

As a fermentable alcohol, it is used for the differentiation of some bacteria, for the culture of certain fastidious organisms, for specimen transport media and in fluids for the long term preservation of bacteria

This product can also be used for the preparation of histological fixatives and specimen fluids.

Caution:

Contact with strong oxidizing agents such as Potassium permanganate, Potassium chlorate, or Chromium trioxide should be avoided as an explosion may result.
