Description
Amyl Lactose Broth, AM 83, is a standards medium used for presumptive testing for coliforms in wastewater, dairy products, foodstuffs and potable water, and conforms to the requirements of the American Public Health Association1,2,3.
Tubes of the broth containing a Durham fermentation tube are inoculated and incubated at 35°C and should be checked at 24 and 48 hours for gas production and/or turbidity.
Presumptive identification of coliform organisms, ie turbidity and gas production , must be followed by confirmatory tests
