Amyl Selenite Cystine Broth Base, AM 766, is a modification of Leifson’s original formula for Selenite F Broth1 which incorporates L-Cystine as a growth stimulant2. The use of this modification has been recommended by the U.S. Pharmacopoeia, the AOAC and the American Public Health Association for the enriched isolation of salmonella from faeces and food materials, particularly eggs and egg products. 3,4,5.
