Description
This medium conforms to the formulation described by Windle Taylor for the plate count of micro-organisms in water.
In the United Kingdom, it is commonly used for the enumeration of heterotrophic bacteria in water. Duplicate pour plates are prepared of each sample dilution and separate estimations are made depending upon the temperature range and time of growth. The two methods give different results.
This medium and these conditions support the growth of yeasts, moulds and bacteria.
