Description
Amyl Skim Milk Powder is a spray dried powder preparation of skim milk. The use of ordinary skim milk in microbiological culture media is undesirable because of the presence of thermophilic organisms. Spray dried milk powder using a heat process eliminates these organisms and renders the medium suitable for bacteriological use. This process will also destroy most residual antibiotics.
The material is then qualitatively screened for the presence of antibiotic residues by a plate assay against Bacillus subtilis ATCC6633, however this testing regimen may not detect all residues or very small levels.
